Week Two: Symptoms, Cramping & HCG Levels

What to expect at two weeks pregnant.

At two weeks pregnant you may be surprised to hear that there’s still no embryo. Ovulation usually occurs around day 14 of your menstrual cycle. This is when you are most fertile and the likelihood of a sperm fertilizing one of your eggs is much higher.

There are ways to check whether or not you are ovulating, in order to ensure the best chances of conception.

Two Weeks Pregnant Symptoms

There are several symptoms you may notice during ovulation, which – if fertilization is successful – may also be considered as very early signs of pregnancy.

Changes in your temperature

Your temperature can fluctuate during ovulation and your body temperature drops to its lowest when ovulation occurs. However, it quickly raises back up to normal levels. Checking your temperature with a special thermometer is a good way to start monitoring when you’re ovulating.

Cramping and abdominal pain

Menstrual cramps are common for many women during a period; however, you may also feel abdominal or pelvic pain when ovulating. Depending on which ovary releases the egg, some women can feel pain on one side of their abdomen.

Increased sex drive

Some women notice a higher libido as the ovulation process begins. It may be nature’s way of saying now is the best time for making babies!

Two Weeks Pregnant HCG Level

By the end of your second week of pregnancy, you may see your HCG levels rise if fertilization has been successful.

The HCG levels at 2 weeks pregnant remain largely unchanged from one week pregnant.

Average hCG levels:

  • Less than 10 U/L in non-pregnant women
  • 10 to 25 U/L for a ‘borderline’ pregnancy result
  • more than 25 U/L for a positive result
